SEPTEMBER 2014

Posted by JW

SEPTEMBER WAS A QUIET DIFFERENT MONTH

Due to the cooler weather many things did not happen or did happen but very slowly or later than usual. Its now past the end of September and things are shutting down.  However we are having some 70 to 80 degree days and that has confused some plants.  Looks like October will be a lot more active than September.  Bird activity on the rise, lots of activity.  Grass is growing very rapidly.  Many plants saying I am shutting down fix me up for the winter.

Pleated Woodpecker makes regular visits to our trees. hard to get him to cooperate for photos but to day he seemed not to mind.

Pleated Woodpecker has not been seen or heard from since the photo visit.  Usually we here him as he makes his rounds around the area.  I am sure he is still around as there is about 20,000 acres he can roam.  Lots of what we call our winter birds showing up so lots of activity at the feeders.

OK that’s it, comments welcome.  See you next time.

  1. You saw one more Monarch that I did. Haven’t seen one for three years now. 🙁 My marigolds out performed every plant in my yard. Your gardens are looking good.

HI Judy: Yes Marigolds did very well. Zinnia also did well. Morning Glory’s not so well.

    Have a great day,
    John
