CHECKING OUT THE DAYLILILES
**
WE ARE TAKING ANOTHER STROLL CHECKING ON THE DAYLILIES
As we stroll around the gardens this time we are looking at the Daylilies. Liza has done a great job of photographing them. we have some that are over 25 years old and some the that are only a couple of years old. We don’t know the names of any of them, we never kept track.
Doesn’t matter we have them for our own enjoyment and some of them may have even come from a cross-breed. Most of them are in one bed but we also have a few scattered around the gardens.
The Daylilies are great for a mid summer highlight in the garden. As we add more and divide and plant them around the gardens we will enjoy the mid July burst of color in the gardens.

these are such lovely flowers!!!- they run wild along the roadsides
here in georgia…these and butterfly bush bright orange are our wild summertime colors. when i moved to this very old house there was a bed of double orange daylilies. i figure it must be pretty old cultivar, as i have never seen it in anyone’s garden here. i have moved some into a new bed this year. they are quite dramatic.
are you familiar with these? are they just a common variation, or a forgotten relic of lillies past?
regards to youall, joanne

HI Joanne: We have some of the old time ones. Liza has to have planted them about 35 years ago, they are still going strong. If you look at other peoples yard and along the road side you see them here and there.
Enjoy the evening,
John
