FIRST SNOW OCT 2009
Posted by jwlw

JUMPING JEHOSHAPHAT IT’S SNOWING
This has been the worst year I can remember for foul weather, Cold, Rainy, and now it’s Snowing in the middle of October about 0ne month early. Whats all this talk about Global Warming?

Weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow is snow or rain and warming up tomorrow evening. Tuesday in the mid fifty’s. This probably just a early dusting to keep us on our toes. But one never knows around here what the weather will bring. Hope it’s gone in a day or so our gardens have not been put to bed for the winter yet. Not fun mulching through the snow.
That’s it for this post see you all next time. Your comments are always welcome, let us know when you stop by.

Man that is kind of scary. I’m over on the opposite side of the country from you in Washington state. Last year we had a heck of a lot of snow for us temperate climate wimps. I certaintly don’t want to see that again. My garden is also not put to bed yet so the last thing I want to see is what you’re seeing. Yikes! Hope your plants are alright.

HI LeSan, good to see you here. Snow turned to rain during the night and in the morning only a few patches showing. Next few days are suppose to be sunny, then rain for the weekend. Have started putting gardens to bed. Will have to work around the weather.
Have a great day,
John

Cool stuff. I like where I live…snow once in a BLUE MOON!!! Just enough to say “how pretty” and be done with it! Do not expect any here for a couple more months!

HI Jenny, Snow is a little early here, usually don’t get any until November or later. Northern NH has snow on the ground and the Ski places are making snow now. Cold weather is helping them.
Enjoy your evening,
Dad

Yep, it has been a kooky year for weather, all right. One thing about cooler weather, though. The few roses still blooming on my arbor are lasting much, much longer.

Hi Liza and John;
Crazy weather for sure.I keep wondering if it might warm up in November for a while. We just put down insulating blanket and construction poly on all the potted plants yesterday but there’s still
a bunch to pick up before the real snow comes. The birds are eating the feeders clean before noon everyday making us wonder what kind of winter we’re in store for.

HI George, You are right about the weather. We are trying to put gardens to bed for the winter and the weather keeps interfering. Also have lost one of our supplies for mulching material. Looks like a compost maker hauled the whole pile away from a local horse farm.

Hi John and Liza, I love seeing comments by family and friends on blogs. When I first began blogging in December of ’07 my kids were there for support with nice comments when few others visited. As more people came by and left a note, the kids sort of quit writing, although they still read the posts. I miss them. You are lucky to have them coming to visit. Hope your snow subsides so you can put your garden to bed.

HI Frances, Your right about the kids. The one’s commenting are adults. I am now trying to get Grand Children interested, most of them too young yet but almost.
Thanks for visiting us. You are welcome any time.
Have a great day,

One thing about the weather, it’s bound to change. We never expect to have snow, though.
My son commented once on another of my blogs, not the garden one. I told about accidentally killing my pet chicken as a child and he revealed about inadvertently killing his roommate’s pet duck. We don’t usually get so personal.

I can’t believe it is snowing in so many places already- after a hot day today it is now predicted to turn colder. Snow is not far behind since this marks the end of our Indian Summer I think.
Snow is around the bend for us.

Hey John and Liza,
Wow. Snow anytime is hard for this Florida gardener to imagine but in October? Yikes. We are still in the upper 80′s. Hope all has calmed a bit for you to catch up on your mulching.
My kids were great support at the start of my blog… now they only read it and say they leave the comments to the ‘true gardeners’. I miss their comments.
