GARDEN VISIT

WHO IS C.L. FORNARI

Liza and I recently had the pleasure of visiting the gardens of C.L. Fornari.  The word around town is that she is the gardening Guru of Cape Cod.  We met C.L. on the internet blogging around in Garden blogs.  This visit would be our first meeting C.L. and her Gardens in person.  When we arrived  were greeted  by  C.L. and her gardens.  While walking through the gardens one could see and feel the love and admiration both the gardener and the gardens had for each other.

The gardens at this place are now in their second year, still under construction and growing.  One could see and feel the ambition of the gardener’s and the garden trying to make that just right feeling and look.   C.L. and her husband Dan are both gardeners in these gardens and it looks like they work together very well.  The photos that follow will give you a brief view of the gardens so you will have to go to C.L.’s Blog and her WebPage to see more.

Our visit was very enjoyable, we found C.L.  a gracious lady who is developing her life as a Gardener, Garden Speaker, Garden Writer and  a Radio Host among other things.   She is just full of excitement and energy about life and the things she is doing.

This photo was taken in the first year we were gardening at Poison Ivy Acres. To see what a difference well-prepared soil (in our case horse manure compost) makes see the second year photo

This garden is at our front door. It has plants in shades of yellow, coral, blue and white.

Our mutt, Riley, loves to bound down these steps toward the lake. I view even steps as a place to grow things, and this year Verbascum, Portulaca and Alyssum grew in the cracks.

shed

Dan built a shed that is cut in half, with one side a storage area and the south side a growing room for seedlings. After the middle of February, it never got below freezing on this half so I am able to start seeds even without heat.

  2. HI Michael and Hailey: Not much to see in our gardens in April, may still be snow on the ground. Bubbling Fountain may still be in storage waiting to be set-up. Can not set up until all danger of freezing has past.

Jessica, Let us know when you are up here, will be good to see you here for a change. Will probably see you in Florida before that, will be making our usual winter visits.

  6. Loved seeing this garden and blogger through your perspective. It looks like such a lovely spot and I’m so envious of the stonework.

  7. HI Ilona: Yes the stonewalls are something aren’t they. If you go on her blog there is more. You will have to dig around a little even way back in the blog. Leave her a comment on the most recent post and tell her you got there from Liza and Johns Garden. I am sure you will also enjoy a lot of her posts.

    Have a good evening,
    John

  13. Sounds like you had a wonderful visit with CL. One of my favorite thing about gardeners is how generous they are with their time and knowledge. Thanks for sharing those photos of her garden, it is simply beautiful.

  14. Hi guys – yeah, C.L. is a good buddy (we had dinner together a few weeks ago in Raleigh) with a great developing garden. Glad you had a chance to meet her! :-)

  15. Debbie: Welcome to our garden. Yes gardeners are a unique breed, I always say all gardeners have Gardenitis. No cure no hope for any change, you just have to live with it. All gardeners are a little nuts. “Don’t know any other way to explain it”

    Have a good evening,
    John
